Summary

• Location – The village is situated in the valley of Lomnica brook on the eastern foothill of the Slanske Mountains, 9 km far from the district of Vranov upon Topla. The cadastral territory is 1816 hectares and it lies at an altitude of 225 – 960 metres. It has the population of 325 inhabitants. The neighbouring villages are the following: Zamutov, Caklov, Vechec, Mudrovce and Kecerovsky Lipovec.
• History – The village has been established in the thirties of 16th century. According to the earliest written reference from 1547, the first mayor was Jusko, according to whom is the village named. The first inhabitants of Ruthenian origin maintained themselves by cattle and horse raising, logging, pile charring and farming. In the early 19th century the village had its own local government and seal. As the legend says, in the surrounding woods could have been found the outlaw Jusko with his cohort. In the village is situated also school from 1898, the Greek-Catholic church of St. Demeter built from 1928 to 1930 and a few archetypical houses from the first half of 20th century.
• Nature – Slanske Mountains are north-south bound volcanic mountains, long 50 km and wide 20 km in the north and only 12 km in the south. The highest peak of the mountains is Simonka (1092 m above sea level). The mountains have been created from andesites and volcanic rocks, by erosion of which various surficial forms were created, beautiful valleys, steep rocky walls and cliffs with stone seas at their foot. The woods range over 84% of cadastral territory and they are mainly greenwoods (beech and oak tree). Meadows and pastures range over 13% of cadastral territory and they are used for cattle raising. Diversity of nature given by wide-ranging woods, floriferous meadows, net of streams and segmentation of the mountains is an assumption for the richness of flora and fauna (birds). Thanks to that, the territory was included into the network of protected areas in the territory of the European Union Natura 2000.
• Tourism – In the vicinity of the village there are 50 km of footpaths, cycling and skiing routes, relax areas for tourists with fireplaces, shelters, benches, springs and information boards. The most interesting tourist places are: Rokytova (observatory), Zbojnicke chyže (rocky ravine), Zbojnicka skala (observatory), Makovica (the highest peak of the territory) and Skaly pod Pariakovou (rocky town). Year by year is held the tourist hike „Po zbojnickych chodničkoch“. In the village is situated sport and recreational area with the outdoor facilities for children games and sports. There are regularly organised cultural, sport and social events for inhabitants and visitors of the village. In the village is also Greek-catholic school in the nature, where summer recreational and pastoral trips for children and youth are organised.
